¡Hola Mexico! aka Our 2011 Xmas Retreat
Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 | Activities, Photography | 2 Comments
Mexico – a great place to escape the Xmas stress and general greyness of Germany in the winter. It’s almost unbelievable how many colours you miss getting out of a plane from Mexico … just look out of your window when you’re done flicking through these sample shots. Enjoy.
Regarding the post-processing – I feel like a cook that just learned about salt and pepper, so he applies a lot to each meal. Right now I like the style of punchy colours and unsharp masked pictures but I already feel that I am getting tired of these dishes … I’d like to experiment with thyme, oregano, parsley and what else the kitchen (RawTherapy/GIMP) has to offer. So much to learn …

Last year we stayed for one night to test our new camping gear (@see Germany is Beautiful – Aggertalsperre). Test run was fine, camp site was pretty awesome. I decided to invite a few friends over for the Whitsun’s holiday 2011. Here a some impression. Reservation for 2012 is already done, 15 people may attend. So if you want to be in make sure you call in early ![]()
Ahhh, Malta! A German Winter’s retreat indeed :)

Germany is Beautiful – Aggertalsperre

As some of you might know I’ve been abroad for 7 month, visiting various places and getting to know a lot of interesting spots far far away countries have to offer. Though talking about Germany’s sites doesn’t ring a bell. This is quite a pity and about to change, because me and my wife a.) want to get to know local picturesque places (1-3h driving perimeter) and b.) we are test-driving our new camping gear.
First location: Aggertalsperre Oberbergisches Land, NRW
I “found” this location playing around with Google Earth. First I wanted to visit the Brucher Talsperre, but me and wify couldn’t find a suitable camping ground there. After trying a few more locations (Lingesetalsperre, Kerspetalsperre) I fell back to old habits and googled “kierspe camping”. On of the results was “Campingplatz Stubenrauch“, residing just at the shore of the Aggertalsperre. We decided to drive there, check it out and stay if it was okay, head back home otherwise. We decided to stay and had a fun afternoon, got visited by Rob and Myri, had a pretty good dinner, received great hospitality, used clean and working facilities and popped our tent’s cherry.
Now we are back, the tent is dry and clean, stowed away in the cellar and I can’t wait to get back couching to enjoy some quality PS3 time.

JavaOne 2009 is over and after meeting up with some fellow co-workers from a codecentric partner (dynaTrace – Hi to Andreas and Alois! We had an awesome time together
) we decided to team up and explore the San Francisco area together. We’ve been to the north (Sonoma, Napa) and south (Half Moon Bay west coast till Santa Cruz). Enjoy the ride!

JavaOne – here we come!

Okay, the headline’s rhyme is quite feeble, I just wanted to express my excitement about attending the JavaOne conference in San Francisco this summer. It’ll be the first time for me, talking about attending the number one Java conference and visiting the US/San Francisco alike.

I’ll take my wife with me to spend a few days after the conference. I wonder what we will be doing after the conference, because I told her to do all the cultural/shopping stuff while I am listening to tech talks.
I guess I’ll just enjoy myself by letting the city impress me:

I’d like to thank my employer codecentric for making this possible! If you want to apply for a job after reading this, please refer my name in your application!
